The dry white wine MTSVIVANI KAKHURI is a great rarity in Georgia, since the Kakhetian grape variety Mtsvivani Kakhuri almost disappeared during the period of Soviet rule. Only thanks to the passionate winemaker and founder of the JSC Corporation Kindzmarauli winery, Tamaz Konchoshvili, this endangered vine was saved and today it is gradually spreading in Georgia.
This wine is aged in small 225 liter oak barrels for 18 months, eight of which are on the lees, which is constantly stirred with a stick (battonage). This is how the aroma and taste of the Mtsvivani Kakhuri wine gain in complexity.
Mtsvivani Kakhuri is made from 100% 20-year-old Mtsvivani Kakhuri vines and comes from the Samebis Zvrebi vineyard, Kakheti region.
The wine is yolk in colour with golden rays and a pronounced bouquet in which tones of ripe apricot pleasantly blend with tones of oak and nuts. The taste of the wine is harmonious, with notes of cooked pear, spring mountain honey and the complex mineralization, giving it a high flattering factor. The wine glides smoothly over the palate. The successful use of wood characterizes this elegant, finely structured wine with a long finish.
The optimal drinking temperature is 14–16 °C.
